Montana (2nd Visit)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2025 Road Trip \u2013 Montana: Big Sky Country (2<sup>nd<\/sup> Visit)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">February 2025 \u2026.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another Year down \u2026 and we are planning another epic trip to KYLE.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s time to KYLE and plan our 2025 trip.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year, we visited our son, Eric, who lives in Montana \u2026 we had a GREAT time, but we couldn\u2019t do everything that we wanted, so we are going back to Montana to see him and do the things that we didn\u2019t do last year.&nbsp; Plus, some of the things that we did were so much fun, we plan on doing them again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We went in August last year and the weather was in the low 30\u2019s at the top of Lone Peak at Big Sky and it was in the 80\u2019s in the valleys.&nbsp; This trip will be in June and it should be consistently cooler.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It will also be a Mom trip!&nbsp; She is the only one who is going.&nbsp; She wants to see her son and he wants to see his Mom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We did so much last year.&nbsp; We went hiking in the mountains and the valleys.&nbsp; We went fly fishing (didn\u2019t catch anything \u2013 that\u2019s why they call it fishing and not catching) and we visited both Big Sky Resort and Yellowstone National Park (Olde Faithful).&nbsp; This trip will be shorter, but just as EPIC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How long to stay \u2026 Four (4) days \u2026\u00a0a long weekend.\u00a0 <strong>SECRET<\/strong>, we have specific things that we want to do or do again.\u00a0 There will be no long day trips, so a long weekend is the perfect amount of time.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where to stay \u2026 staying with our son \u2026\u00a0<strong>SECRET<\/strong>, when you have family where you are visiting, see if you can stay with them.\u00a0 It significantly reduces expenses (no hotel expense) and it gives you more quality time with your family.\u00a0 In this case, our son lives in a location that is central to everything that we want to do, so it is a perfect option.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Car Rental \u2026 since we are staying with our son, we have access to his car.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>SECRET<\/strong>, if you still want a rental car, book early and look for discounts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set a Countdown Reminder \u2026\u00a0<strong>KYLE<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now we can book flights \u2026&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Flights \u2026\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bozemanairport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport<\/a>\u00a0is still the only airport serving southwestern Montana.\u00a0 We booked with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.southwest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Southwest Airlines<\/a> again, because there is a major hub in Houston.\u00a0 Again, we are flying through Denver, Colorado.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>SECRET<\/strong>, remember to plan an EARLY flight when you leave for a trip and book a LATE flight when you return \u2026 this is like getting two (2) extra days on your trip.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>SECOND<\/strong> <strong>SECRET<\/strong>, pre-book long-term parking at the airport and get a discount, it\u2019s cheaper than using Uber\/Lyft and it\u2019s more convenient.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SECRET\u00a0<\/strong>\u2026 use a countdown reminder \u2026 it can be a calendar or an app on your but \u2026. but use one to KYLE.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Four (4) months away \u2026 and we are KYLE.&nbsp; The main thing (flights) are booked and we are keeping track of the countdown on our iPhone app. Now, it\u2019s time to look at specifically what we will be doing and see if we need to book anything early.&nbsp; We are staying for four (4) days and identifying things that we weren\u2019t able to do or that we want to do again.&nbsp; We are not looking at specific days (unless we need to), we are just making sure that we are able to do everything that we want to do (subject to change).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thursday\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Arrive \u2013 early<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hike to Hyalite waterfall \u2013 do again<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the telescope \u2013 maybe see the Northern Lights<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visit Bozeman Spirits and Distillery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go off-roading in Jeep Wrangler LJ<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Friday\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Shooting range \u2013 do again<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visit Livingston, Montana<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eat at Spectator\u2019s Sports Bar<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Saturday\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit a friend in Fairfield, Montana<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Big Sky Resort \u2013 do again<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hike Ousel Falls trail \u2013 do again<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sunday\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Museum of the Rockies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leave &#8211;
